Wind that has crossed open water off the Detroit River arrives in Lincoln Park with an edge to it, and on the coldest nights the salt on the pavement dries to a white bloom by sunrise. Frazier Grounds works those hours — plowing, shoveling walks, spreading salt on driveways and steps while the town is still dark. Snow removal is a job measured in mornings: did the car get out, did the mail carrier make it up the walk, did anybody slip. When the answers are yes, yes and no, the night was a success. That's the whole scorecard, from the first flurries to the last hard freeze in March.
