A January northeaster off Lake Huron reaches Lexington Township sideways, and by first light the drives along the shore road have drifted shut. Opening them is half of this work: plowing back to pavement, clearing the walk to the door, cutting a path wide enough that the day can go ahead as planned. The other half belongs to the warm months — mowing on rotation, trimming out the corners, edging the drive so the line stays sharp all season. Two halves of one calendar, and the same signature at the end of each visit: nothing left ragged. In a place this exposed, that finish counts.
