Weather comes to Leslie secondhand, brewed out over Lake Michigan and carried a hundred miles inland before it arrives as a February squall across open fields. This is an outfit built for both ends of that bargain. In the warm half of the year it is mowing on a steady rotation, trimming and edging so a yard holds its shape between visits. In the cold half it is plowing and clearing — the driveway pushed back wide, the walk to the door opened, the apron at the end of the drive cut through. Two kinds of work, one place, and a plain pleasure in leaving each property looking cared for.
