Three digits cover a lot of Michigan, and this corner of them is Leslie — cornfields squared off by section roads, the hum of US-127 carrying north toward Mason. Summer work here starts before the field dust rises, mowers cutting clean lines across yards that end where the crop line begins. Edges get cut sharp along the drive, the trimmer finishing what the deck cannot reach. Come winter those same roads go white and quiet, and the plow is out early so a driveway is open before anyone has to think about it. It is ordinary work, done to a standard you can see from the road.
