On a June morning in Laketon township the water throws light back up into the trees, and every lawn between Bear Lake and the road looks like it has been switched on. Dream Green Lawn Division works that stretch with weekly mowing, trimming and edging, holding a color and a cut line that stand up under all that reflected sun. Muskegon County ground is sand under a thin skin of loam, so grass here gets coaxed rather than forced. Later in the year the same yards get their leaf cleanup and a last cut before the lake starts sending weather inland. Green is the name and the goal, and on the north shore it takes attention to keep.
