Kincheloe still keeps the long straight runways and wide aprons of the old air base, and Chippewa County still keeps the snow — deep, early, and in no hurry to leave. JJ's four-season service's works both ends of that calendar: plowing and clearing through the long white months, mowing, trimming and edging through the brief green ones. Up here the growing season is short enough that every cut counts, and the snow season is long enough that a good plow route becomes second nature in the dark. Jack pine, enormous sky, and a driveway open before the school bus comes around the corner. The work follows the year exactly as the year comes.
