Winter comes into Kimball straight off Lake Huron, over Port Huron and the flats, with very little standing in its way. Dig It Land Works does snow removal out here — plowing drives and lots, cutting the banks back at the road, keeping approaches wide enough for a work truck to swing in. On nights when the squall line arrives, the plowing starts before the accumulation does and does not stop until the roads are finished being interesting. There is something deeply satisfying about a lot scraped square to its own corners and dry by morning. Nobody sees the hours; everybody sees the pavement.
