Satkowiak Snow Plowing

About Satkowiak Snow Plowing

By February the bay ice groans and the sky over Kawkawlin goes the color of an old nickel. Satkowiak Snow Plowing exists for those nights — plowing driveways and lots, carrying the banks back off the corners, opening a path to the road before the alarm clocks go off. Squalls come in over the water fast and leave just as fast, and the difference between a stuck morning and an ordinary one is somebody who was already out in it. There is a stillness in the cab at three in the morning that people who sleep through winter never get to hear. By breakfast everyone is out and gone, and nobody had to think about the snow at all.
