By late August, Kasson's evenings hold their light until nearly ten, and the smell of cut grass drifts up the hill with the vineyard rows. Yard Card MI, LLC keeps lawns on a steady rhythm through that stretch — mowing at a height the sandy Leelanau ground can carry, trimming fence lines, running the edger where turf has crept over the walk. Beds are cleared of clippings and gates latched on the way out. When October cools the hills, the same yards get raked and cleaned out for winter. It is ordinary upkeep, and it makes a place look loved.
