About DeYoung Landscape Service Inc.

February in the Kalamazoo Valley likes to soften at noon and clamp back down by dark, and the drives along West Main and out into Oshtemo turn to glass. DeYoung Landscape Service Inc. plows through that and then goes back for the part that decides the day — walks scraped to the surface, aprons opened where melt runs and refreezes, salt worked into the shaded stretch beside the garage. Winter here delivers itself in slow freight from the west, and the meltwater is the sneakier half of it. Clearing a driveway is easy to picture and harder to do right at five in the morning with wind coming across open fields. Doing it right anyway is the whole point.
