Come July the light over Ella Sharp Park hangs on late, stretching oak shadows down the meadow slope until nearly nine. Jackson yards get cut inside that long window — the hot middle of the afternoon spent moving, the cooler end spent on the details. White's lawn care mows, trims and edges through the growing season, and strips a yard back to bare grass in spring and again once the leaves come off. Stripes laid straight across a front lawn, a true line held beside a driveway, the clippings blown off the concrete before the mower goes back on the trailer. It is small work done often, and a whole street of it turns into a neighborhood that looks like somebody is paying attention.
