The green season in Ironwood is short and generous — the Montreal River runs high in May, the grass comes on fast through June, and by early October the color is off the hills. Jake's Excavating & Landscaping, LLC works both halves of that year: mowing, trimming and lawn upkeep while the ground allows it, then plowing, shoveling and ice control from the first real snow to the last one that lets go. Up here the two jobs nearly overlap; it is not unusual to cut grass and push snow inside the same week of October. Knowing a property in summer makes it far easier to find the edge of the driveway in February. That's the advantage of tending the same ground the whole way through.
