Summer on the Marquette Iron Range comes late and leaves early, so in Humboldt every green week counts. Lawns & Stuff spends those weeks mowing and tending yards in this old mining country west of Ishpeming, where birch and spruce crowd the edges and the ground still carries the memory of iron. After a winter measured in feet, the grass comes back hungry, and keeping it cut short and even helps it thicken through a growing season that never feels long enough. A tidy yard is a point of pride up here, squared off against the woods under a June sky that holds its light toward ten. When the first frost silvers the lawn in September, it goes into winter looking kept.
