Lowery's Land Services

About Lowery's Land Services

Snow on the moraine does not lie flat. Wind finds the top of every rise around Howell Township and packs the lee side of the gravel roads until a driveway disappears into the field it borders. Lowery's Land Services runs through those nights — plowing drives and lots, cutting the banks back before they close a turnaround, shoveling walks and steps, and salting the grades where ice sets up under the shade. Working a rural drive at two in the morning is quiet in a way nothing else is: headlights, blowing snow, one open lane widening behind you. By breakfast nobody has to think about it, which is the whole idea.
