Holly keeps its brick — the short blocks off Battle Alley, the old storefront walks, the narrow strips of green wedged between pavement and porch. DeFore's Lawn & Snow looks after that kind of ground: small lawns cut close and even, trim run tight along brick and iron, edges held clean where grass wants to creep over the sidewalk. Beds get mulched in spring, and autumn's leaves come off before they mat down over the walks. When December settles in, the same walks are shoveled and salted and the drives behind them opened early, so the morning starts on bare footing.
