The Shiawassee River slips out of Holly narrow enough in places to step across, running under the road bridges and off toward the north without much announcement. ASW Lawn Care & Landscaping works the yards that sit above it in June, when the village grass grows thick and the mornings still hold a little river cool. Every property gets cut, trimmed around the plantings and edged along the drive until the line is unmistakable. Beds are mulched, and the spring and fall cleanups take the yard down to bare, breathable ground twice a year. A Holly lawn kept this way looks deliberate from the sidewalk — and that is the whole ambition.
