West of the city, Park Township runs out toward the water between Lake Macatawa and the dunes — quiet roads through Waukazoo Woods, the little airport field, the long stretch of Ottawa Beach Road. Snow arrives here sideways off the water and drifts wherever the trees give out. The township office handles snow removal so those roads, lots and walks open back up. Mid-morning after a long night band is the best part of it: pavement dark and wet again, pine boughs unloading, a neighborhood stepping out to see what fell.
