Higgins Lake water is clear enough that on a calm morning the bottom shows fifteen feet down, and the lawns running toward it are cut short over sand you can feel through your boots. M&R Lawncare handles those yards — mowing light soil that grows fast in June and slow in August, trimming around the pines and the stairways down to the water, edging drives, and clearing needles and leaves once fall arrives. Lake-lot mowing is close work; there is always a deck, a boat trailer or a birch standing exactly where the machine wants to go. Look back up from the dock afterward and the cottage sits open, everything trimmed and squared. The season starts with a cleanup and runs until the jack pines are the only green left.
