On winter nights the lights of Mt. Holly glow up off Dixie Highway, and for a few months the whole township runs on snow. Holly Dirt Diggers works those hours — plowing drives and lots across Groveland Township, shoveling walks down to the concrete, and salting where the day's melt will refreeze after dark. Storms come through here wet and heavy one week and dry and drifting the next, and each kind gets pushed a different way. The aim is never subtle: open pavement, room to park, footing at the door. A drive cleared before the household stirs is the good version of this job.
