When the wind comes hard across the open fields west of town, Greenville's snow arrives sideways — clear sky one minute, whiteout the next, and the gravel roads drift shut behind you. DOUBLE A. plows through it: driveways opened, walks cleared down to the surface, salt on the slick spot at the foot of the drive. In the green half of the year the same properties get mowed, trimmed and edged, with cleanups at the front and back of the season. Two kinds of weather, one set of yards, looked after either way.
