Green Lake Township wraps around water — Green Lake itself, Duck Lake just over the way — and in summer the sound of practicing instruments carries out over it from Interlochen. DLB Outdoor Services keeps the lawns along those shores and back roads cut, trimmed and edged, with cleanups in spring and again once the maples finish. When the year turns, the trucks go to plowing drives and lots and salting the walks that ice over first. Snow comes heavy off the big lake to the west and piles deep among the pines. Working both halves of the calendar means knowing every driveway twice over — the easy summer turnaround, and the one you find by headlight in February.
