NC Dirt Works

About NC Dirt Works

South of Traverse City the land rolls a little and the snow bands come inland off the bay one after another until Blair township is put under for the winter. NC Dirt Works clears the drives and yards around Grawn and Chums Corner — pushing back what has fallen, opening approaches, breaking through the ridge left across the end of a driveway. Storms up here rarely arrive at a convenient hour, so the work happens whenever the snow stops, and sometimes before. The good part comes after: clean pavement, banks squared off, the whole place open again by the time the sun is up over the Boardman valley. Northern Michigan asks a lot of a winter, and this is how you meet it.
