About NoMoSno

Four in the morning on the Michigan Street hill, and a plow light swings across a driveway nobody has touched yet. NoMoSno works the Grand Rapids winter the way the name promises — get out ahead of it, so the first person awake finds bare pavement instead of a problem. Lake-effect comes off Lake Michigan in bands here, sideways and stubborn, and a drive cleared at nine can need clearing again by two. So the trucks go back. Plowing, driveway and walk clearing, salt where the ice wants to set up — that is the whole job, and the reward is a clean apron of concrete steaming a little under the porch light.
