By the time the stalls are going up at the Fulton Street Farmers Market, Early Bird Lawn, LLC has already been mowing for an hour. Dew is still sitting on the Midtown yards then, the light runs sideways down Diamond and Cherry, and grass cuts cleanest before the day gets hot. Mowing, trimming around trees and posts, edging the walks, sweeping the drive — done early, done quietly, finished before most of the block has poured a second cup. The April wake-up and the November leaf haul belong to the same rhythm. Grand Rapids mornings are worth being awake for anyway.
