June around Grand Ledge smells like cut grass and, out past the edge of town, like fruit ripening in the rows. Strawberry Fields Landscape Design leans hard into that season — planting beds and borders, mulching, shaping the ground, and keeping lawns mowed, trimmed and edged so all that color has something calm to sit against. Planting here has to survive a mid-Michigan swing from a ninety-degree July to a February that means it, so the plan matters as much as the plants. There is a moment in early summer when a new bed finally knits together and looks as though it grew there on its own. Getting a yard to that moment is the whole pleasure of the work.
