By late November the Grand River valley goes to bare branches and low grey light, and every yard shows its bones — the beds, the grades, the shape somebody gave it. Snyder's Landscape Design Inc. works in those bones around Grand Ledge: planting and bed design, mulch, grading, plus the ordinary upkeep of mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups that keeps a design looking intended. When the weather turns, the work turns with it — plowing drives and lots, clearing walkways, salting the ice before the first car backs out. A designed landscape earns its keep in winter, when the lines beneath the snow are still legible. Then April arrives, the beds wake, and the whole idea reappears at once.
