The name says both halves of a Michigan year, and Grand Ledge supplies both without much warning in between. In July, when the bandshell at Island Park stays warm into the evening, Fire & Ice Lawn/Snow Care is mowing, trimming, edging and keeping beds mulched and lawns fed. In January, when river fog freezes onto the bridge rails overnight, the same trucks are out plowing drives, clearing walkways and salting the ice that forms where the sun never reaches. Heat and freeze, green and white — the work swaps tools and keeps its habits. Either way it ends the same: a property that looks tended, and a path you can walk without thinking about it.
