April in Grand Haven is all thaw and grit — sand in the gutters, the ravines running loud toward the river, the grass waking up unevenly. TJ's Lawn Service starts right there, with cleanups and first cuts, and keeps yards mowed and trimmed straight through to the frosts. Then the job flips: snow removal on the same drives and walks once the northwest wind starts making deliveries. There is a good feeling in that spring pass, when a winter-worn yard comes back looking like itself again. Around here the two halves of the year need each other, and the work follows them both.
