This far up the map, June light hangs on until nearly ten, and the growing season answers by trying to do everything at once. North Star Gardens - Gaylord takes it as it comes: mowing and trimming through the green months, tidying beds and clearing leaves as the light shortens, then plowing and salting drives once the ground goes hard. Nothing here is given a long runway — grass, gardens and gravel all have to be handled on the weather's schedule rather than anybody's plan. Working with that instead of against it is most of the job. The rest is showing up on the right day, which turns out to matter just as much.
