Snow does not so much fall on Gaylord as arrive: bands built out over Lake Michigan, dragged east across the county, dumping hard for an hour and then clearing to stars. Gaylord Snow & Ice Mgt. reads those bands the way other people read a clock — plow now, salt the glaze at the bottom of the grade, come back near midnight when the next one lands. Drives, walks and lots get cleared and cleared again for as long as the sky keeps handing it down. There is a real satisfaction in an entrance that stays walkable through a night that dropped a foot on everything around it. The lights stay on late from December to March.
