Old US-12 runs east and west past Galien like a seam stitched through southwest Michigan, and the yards along it wake early. SouthWestMichiganLawn&Garden keeps those lawns in trim with mowing, string trimming, bed edging and the cleanups at either end of the season. May mornings come in cool and damp, the mower leaving dark stripes across wet grass; by noon the smell of cut turf belongs to the whole street. The work is unhurried and it is thorough — a lawn that looks finished, right down to the last blade against the sidewalk. Yards in the village and out along the township roads all get the same attention.
