Freeland is mostly level ground, which is exactly what makes Apple Mountain's small rise so beloved — a hill in a country of fields, lit up on winter nights. Kable Landscaping keeps to that same landscape all year: mowing, string trimming and seasonal cleanups while the corn is up, then plowing and clearing once the drifts start building along the fencerows. Snow here arrives on wind as much as from the sky, and a drive opened at midnight can want another pass by six. That is fine; that is the work. By spring the mower is out again and the whole thing turns over, and Freeland asks for both trades in equal measure.
