In September the birch and aspen along the ridges above Forsyth Township go gold while the jack pine stays dark, and the late light turns everything copper. Sunset Ridge Outdoor Services is finishing the last mows of the year in that light — trimming, edging, raking leaves down, putting lawns to bed before the first hard frost sets. A yard closed out clean in October is a gift to whoever has to look at it all winter. The growing season up here is short enough that every cut counts, and none of them get rushed. Sundown comes early, and the work is done before it.
