At five in the morning the covered bridge over the Thornapple is only a dark shape, and the first plow lights of the day come swinging up an Ada driveway. Ada Landscaping Service works both halves of the calendar here in Forest Hills: pushing snow back off drives and turnarounds, cutting walkways down to the concrete, and spreading salt on the shaded spots where the ice likes to hide. Come thaw, the same properties get mowed, edged and trimmed, with the winter's litter of branches and sand raked out of the beds.
