By late August the light down Miller Road goes long and coppery, and every mown lawn on Flint's west side takes the stripe of it. AZ Landscaping works that side of town with mower, trimmer and edger, changing cut height as the season swings from fast June growth into the slower gold weeks. Borders get cut back to a clear line, beds are weeded, walks and drives swept clear. There is an ordinary pleasure in stepping back at dusk and finding a yard that looks composed. Flint asks for that kind of steady tending, week after week, until the mowers finally go quiet in the fall.
