October in Evart is a short gold hinge between two kinds of work. Shades of Green Landscaping spends the green half mowing, edging and keeping beds clear around town and out toward the river flats, then swaps the blade for a plow when the fields go white and the morning fog turns to frost. The benches at Riverside Park disappear under snow the same week the last leaves are hauled away, and the trucks are ready for it. Winter here means early starts and long routes — drives opened, walkways cleared, salt where the ice likes to set up at the bottom of a slope. Then April loosens the ground again, the cleanup runs back through, and the whole cycle takes its first deep breath.
