About Brunette & Son Inc

Three in the morning out toward Wells, and the plow lights are the only thing moving on Danforth Road. Snow removal in Delta County comes down to this: getting up when the wind finally quits, reading how much actually fell, and clearing driveways and lots so the day can begin on time. Plowing, then shoveling the walks no blade will ever reach, then pushing the banks back before the next storm stacks on top of them. February is when it counts, when the piles already stand shoulder-high and there is nowhere easy left to put anything. The result is undramatic and complete — an open drive, one set of tire tracks leaving it, nobody late.
