Burcham Drive runs east under a roof of oaks, and in the last hour of daylight the whole street goes green-gold. Northwoods Landworks mows the yards along there and on the streets that branch off it — cutting to a height the shade can carry, trimming around trunks and garden edges, cleaning up so clippings don't end up buried in the beds. Shaded East Lansing lawns are their own puzzle: slower to dry, quicker to thin, and unforgiving of a dull blade.
