About Kerns Lawn Services

Barry County never laid itself out flat — around Dowling the land buckles into oak ridges and drops into kettle lakes, so the roads bend where the water tells them to. Kerns Lawn Services works the yards caught in between: the ones that tilt toward a shoreline, the ones the state land shades until nine in the morning. Summer here opens with mist standing over Gun Lake and burns off into long green afternoons, and grass cut on that schedule holds its color deep into August. There is real satisfaction in a slope mowed even without a single scalp mark, in a trim line that follows the fieldstone instead of fighting it. When the oaks let go all at once in October, the cleanup is what hands the yard back to the people who live in it.
