The Lawn Kingz

About The Lawn Kingz

Dusk over Gratiot turns the market sheds violet, and by then the day's cutting is behind them — clippings hauled, edges dressed, the long verges along the side streets finally even. The Lawn Kingz keep the warm months in order with mowing, trimming, edging and seasonal cleanups, then trade the deck for the plow once the ground goes hard. First freeze in this city arrives without much warning: a gray Thursday, wind pushing across the flats, and by Friday morning every drive and walk needs opening before anyone can get to work. So they plow, shovel and salt, keeping the aprons and side entries passable and the path to the door honest underfoot. Two trades, one block at a time, and the same standard in August as in February — leave it better than you found it, right out to the corner.
