Freeze and thaw is the real Dearborn winter — a bright afternoon melts the walk, and by nine at night it is glass. Ds Lawn & Labor Services works the parts a truck cannot reach: shoveling steps, porches, walkways and the path out to the mailbox, then salting so the refreeze has nothing to grab. Drives and lots get cleared as well, but the hand work near the door is where somebody's whole day is decided. Out toward the Dearborn Heights line the sidewalks run long, and they get done end to end. Boots on pavement, not on ice.
