Steele Lawn & Snow

About Steele Lawn & Snow

At eleven at night on the Galesburg side of Comstock Township, the interstate hums a mile off and the snow comes down through the yard lights in slow columns. Steele Lawn & Snow runs those nights, plowing drives and lots, shoveling the entries, laying salt where the melt refreezes by four in the morning. When the ground finally thaws the same trucks trade the blade for the mower, and Kalamazoo County grass takes over the calendar — cut, trimmed, edged, cleared off the concrete. A yard in July and a driveway in January are the same promise made twice: it should look handled. That is the work, year-round, in Comstock and the towns along the river.
