Just up the road, the lakeplain prairie at Algonac State Park grows exactly the way it wants to — tall, loose, full of July insects and moving with the wind. Stone's Lawn Care LLC does the opposite work a mile away, and takes some pleasure in the contrast: mowing, trimming, edging, mulch, bed weeding and seasonal cleanups that hold a yard to a shape. Warm, wet Clay Township summers push the grass hard, so keeping up means showing up, and cutting high enough that the turf can carry the heat. The result worth having is nearly invisible — a property nobody comments on because nothing is out of place. Wild ground next door, kept ground here; both are worth something.
