By October the maples along Chelsea's Main Street let go all at once, and the clock tower stands over a town turning copper and rust. Vitale's Landscape Services works that stretch of the year hard — leaf removal and fall cleanup, plus the mowing, trimming and edging that carried the property all the way from May. Landscape upkeep is mostly timing: cut before the growth gets ahead of you, clear before the rain mats everything flat to the lawn. A yard raked bare and edged sharp under low autumn light is about as good as this work ever looks. Then the ground rests, and spring hands you something to do again.
