South of Cheboygan the inland waterway opens into Mullett Lake, and in April the ice goes out overnight and the whole shore starts dripping. Up North Tree Service runs those waterway roads and the cottage lanes strung between the lakes. Tree removal for the poplar that winter finally leaned too far, tree trimming to clear a dock path and a cabin roof, pruning to keep hardwoods from growing into each other on a narrow lot. Storm damage cleanup gets a season of its own here — high wind on open water, then a day of cutting, hauling, and clearing until the lawn runs clean to the shoreline. Opening a place up for summer and leaving no sign of the mess is a good day's work.
