The Gravel Guy

About The Gravel Guy

Midwinter noon in Nunda Township is blue-shadowed and bright, the pines heavy, the drifts sharp-cut where the wind laid them. The Gravel Guy plows out past where the pavement quits — long approaches, tight turns between the trees, banks shoved back far enough to swallow the next storm. Walks get cleared, the slick spots get treated, and the mailbox stays reachable from a truck window. Pushing snow in December is easy; the craft is pushing it in a way that still leaves room to work in February. Out on these back roads, that kind of forethought is the difference between a drive you can use and one you can only look at.
