C&E Snow Removal

About C&E Snow Removal

In Chassell, snow is less an event than an address. The lake-effect bands come across from Superior and stack the roofs along US-41 until the village looks like a bread loaf under a cloth, and C&E Snow Removal starts before that, in the blue hour, headlights swinging up the drives that run down toward Portage Lake. Plowing here is a matter of scale — wide corners, clean shoulders, walkways cut down to the boards, and banks carried back before they start closing the driveway in. Salt and sand go where the grade tips toward the water, so a person can carry groceries in without thinking about it. By the time the sloughs turn pink at sunrise, the drives are open and the day can begin on time.
