By the second week of June, Central Lake has finally let go of the cold and every garden bed in the village wakes at once. Cottage Gardens Garden Boutique & Outdoor Services works those beds and the lawns around them, from the shop's own doorstep out to the places along the water. Northern soil and northern light make for tight, bright growth — a short season that shows up strong. The mowing, trimming and cleanup here is the frame around the flowers, and a frame does its job by being quiet and straight.
