Earthworks Excavation

About Earthworks Excavation

West of the village the land lifts and then falls away toward the dunes, and that high ground catches everything Lake Michigan sends over in winter. Earthworks Excavation runs snow across it — long gravel two-tracks out to cottages, farm drives, business lots, the sort of clearing that takes real iron and a driver who knows where the shoulders are underneath all that white. A lake-effect night can lay down a foot while nobody is watching; the reply is a pass at three in the morning and another before breakfast. Shovel work at the doors, salt where ice glazes over, and the drive left wide enough to turn a truck around in. Around Cedar, that is what makes the rest of a winter day possible.
