The sound of a Canton winter is a plow blade working two blocks off at four in the morning, and on a lot of streets near Lilley Road that sound is Gregs Snow Removal going by. The work itself is plain: push the drive clear to pavement, cut back the ridge the county plow leaves across the apron, shovel the walk and the steps, salt whatever will glaze over when the temperature drops at dawn. Storms here can leave three inches or twelve, and either way somebody has to be out in it before the township wakes up. Coming back to a driveway that is already open is a small mercy in February. Greg's spends the whole season handing those out, one house at a time.
